Long lines in the pouring rain wrapped around the streets on Boston this past weekend. What was different about these Boylston Street lines this weekend, than any other club night in Boston? Hundreds of college women, and some men, waited to see Lauren Conrad's LC3 fashion show hit The Estate in Boston.
Conrad, star of MTV's Laguna Beach as well as The Hills, finished her five-stop fashion tour entitled "Lauren Conrad's College Collection Tour" (LC3) in Boston. The tour featured her college line, and was sponsored by Xing Tea, makeup by Mark, shoes by Aldo, and the social networking site "The Quad."
The fashion show consisted of Lauren Conrad's spring collection, modeled by Conrad selected college students in the Boston area, including students from Boston College and Northeastern University. The models were also showing Aldo's new show line, as well as Mark makeup inspired by Lauren Conrad. The event was to reach exclusively to women of the Boston area colleges and universities, using products and sponsors that are seen in everyday college life.
Before the show, 200 fans made their way into The Estate, dressed in their finest in order to secure good standing room for the event. Mark makeup representatives gave out free "Hook Up" makeup line samples designed by Conrad, and signed up students to be Mark representatives. With gift bags from Aldo and free Xingtea samples, the crowds poured in for the chance of free stuff and a glimpse of Conrad and her line.
Another sponsor The Quad gave an old twist to Facebook, something that was lost by the now huge site about three years ago. The Quad offers a "college students only" social networking site, that only allows individuals on the site who have an active college e-mail account. With the ability to manage greek chapters and stay up on campus and community listings, the site gives what Facebook lost- a full college audience and experience. Having the publicity at LC3 gave The Quad a fighting chance in the world of social networking, normally dominated by Facebook and MySpace.
