An officer off-campus was approached on Monday by the owner of a local restaurant, who told him that a student on campus has been harassing him for quite some time. The student would call in an order and request that it be delivered, but would then ignore the delivery, causing the food to have to be returned to the restaurant. The owner was unable to provide officers with the student's name or phone number, so the case has been closed until the restaurant is able to supply further information.
Motor Vehicle Tows
On Monday, Campus Police went to issue a citation to a student vehicle parked in a faculty parking lot. As they checked the vehicle's parking decal number in the computer, it was revealed that it had already been issued half a dozen violations this year. The vehicle was thus towed from campus, and the owner will be judicially charged.
Another vehicle was towed on Monday. After officers noticed a vehicle with a commuter decal parked in a residential lot, they ran the vehicle's registration to find its owner, at which time they learned that the vehicle's registration had expired.
Marijuana
Officers responded to Elm Hall on Monday evening for a reported odor of marijuana. Officers traced the scent back to one room in particular. When the door was opened, the smell of marijuana grew stronger, and officers noticed numerous alcohol bottles inside the room. All of the residents of the room denied smoking marijuana and refused to allow officers to search the room. They will be judicially charged for both underage alcohol possession and for a drug violation.
Theft of Mail
Two students reported on Tuesday evening that they had failed to receive cards sent to them, both of which contained cash. The students had asked an employee in the mailroom about the incident, who told them that it was probably a mistake on the part of the sender. On account of a lack of suspect information, this case has been closed, unless new information comes to light.
Being Drunk outside CP with a Fake ID
Friday night, officers observed two students appearing intoxicated outside of Campus Police. They had exited a taxi, and Campus Police, upon noticing their state, approached them. In the course of speaking with them, officers asked them for their identification, at which time it was discovered that one of them had a fake ID, incorrectly representing them as being over 21. The students said that they had been out in Boston for the night, but denied using the fake ID to purchase alcohol. Because the students did not appear intoxicated enough to represent a danger to themselves, they were allowed to return to their rooms, but will face judicial charges for underage alcohol and for the possession of a false ID.
On Friday afternoon, an employee turned in a wallet that was found in the Miller parking lot. As officers catalogued its contents and attempted to find its owner, they noticed licenses from different states, representing two students as over 21. At the time of this writing, the case remained under investigation.
Fare Evasion
A student called Campus Police early Sunday morning to ask for their assistance in speaking with a taxi driver. The student had agreed with two other Bentley students, whom he did not know, to split the cost of the taxi returning to campus. One of them threw up in the taxi on the way back to campus, and they fled the taxi when it stopped. The taxi driver was understandably angry, and wanted the student involved to clean the taxi, but he was nowhere to be found. Campus Police were unable to locate the two students who had fled the taxi, but did observe that the student who had called them had been drinking as well, and judicial charges are pending.
